Resolutions and Such

So I am falling behind on most of my resolutions though I am ready to jump back on the horse. I needed an interesting story to keep your attention and I think I now have it.

On Friday afternoon, I left for Jacksonville, FL. I expected to be there Friday evening. That did not happen.

We boarded the plane in Tucson on Friday about 3:30. The flight was to leave at 3:45. Everything seemed to be going well. We taxied from the gate almost to the runway when the plane stopped and the engines shut down. The captain came on and told us because of bad weather in Dallas the flight after ours had been cancelled and we were on a ground hold. An hour and a half later we were finall allowed to take off. When we arrived at DFW, we had to sit on the tarmac for another hour and a hald beause there were no gates. The captain even came on again and told us to write American Airlines and tell them this was not acceptable.

I'm sure you are thinking man that sucks! The story does not end there. While sitiing in the airplane, I called AA to rebook my flight for the next morning to Orlando instead of Jacksonville because my niece and I had planned to visit Sea World with the family. When we finally were able to get off the plane over five hours from when we had boarded, I quickly ran to grab a bite to eat and let some of the lines of distressed passengers die down before I made my evening plans. It was about 10:30pm at this point.

AA gave me a reduced rate of $60.00 to stay at the Amerisuites DFW South and called their van to take me to the hotel. I was told the van would arrive in 30 min. 45 minutes later the van sped past without stopping (as I waived my hands) and did not come back. I called the hotel and was told the vans were very busy and I should just take a cab. Only one thing the cabs were all gone. I quickly realized that by the time I called a cab and drove to the hotel I would only be able to grab a couple hours sleep before having to be back at the airport. I found a dark corner and slept on the tile floor. About 3am an airport employee felt bad for me and found a couple of blankets for me but needless to say I did not get much sleep. I had no problems sleeping on the plane to Orlando....even with all of the excited kids heading to Disney.

One last thing, of course my bags did not go to Orlando (like the AA rep assured me they would on the phone). They went to Jax so I wasn't able to shave for the second day in a row...much less take a shower. I'm sure I was rank when I finally got a shower this morning.

The joys of travel...

Poor you! What a horrid experience! All I can say, Dan, is you are a GOOD SPORT! I hope your bags find their way to you before you head for home.

Hope you had a great time at Sea World! We'll be expecting some photos of you and Shamu...LOL.

It's like 15 degrees here and we're expecting some snow, so I don't feel TOO badly for ya!

Enjoy and fly safe!
