The mid to late twenties...

I remember the days when I couldn't wait for my birthday. I remember those days because it was this time five years ago I couldn't wait to finally become legal! Time could not pass quickly enough. Now, a short five years later, the years seem to fly by. It seems like Christmas 2004 was only yesterday but in a few short months Christmas 2005 will be here. Suddenly, the thought of my birthday fills me with dread! Ugh! How is it that a short five years can make such a difference?

Maybe the fact that we learn so much during our early twenties has something to do with it. Like every teenager, at the age of 18 I thought that I knew it all. What a laugh! Looking back, I don't think a person knows who they are until they are at least 25. I think that my friends would agree that we are all totally different people now then we were five years ago. I guess that hopefully you continue to grow (emotionally - though, unfortunately, I think that most of us continue to grow physically as well) and learn from your experiences (good or bad) as long as you are blessed to be on this earth.

When you reach the milestone of a quarter of a century however, I think that the realization that there is so much to see and do on this earth and such a relatively short time to do it in causes most to hate to see another year go by. Why is it that one-third to one-fourth of your life has to pass before you really learn to appreciate it? I guess if we lived forever, we would take life for granted like we do many other things. This is God's way of showing us what a gift life really is.

Life is a gift! I thank God for mine everyday!! He has blessed me in so many ways that I can't even count them all!

The evolution of this particular post has surprised me. I started a post about how my upcoming birthday was a cause for dread...but I came to the conclusion that I should celebrate every day that I am given and live life to its fullest. Don't let anything get in your way of living life! I want to live a life without regrets knowing that I have lived my life to the fullest it can be. I know that it will not be easy to do all the time....but in the long run it will definitely be worth it!

On a lighter note...I just want to remind my friends I went to college with and work with that even with the above said and my birthday quickly approaching...I will always be younger than you!!!

Here's my view:

Age 16 you are finally able to obtain a License, age 18 you are a legal eagle, age 21 you are legal to purchase alcohok, age 25 your insurance drops in price, then after that all you have to look forward to is SOCIAL SECURITY. Pending it's still available by the time we reach retirement age.
