Jaymeson
I talked to Jaymeson today on the computer. They got a webcam and he thought making faces at me while I laughed was just the best. Boy do I miss that kid. That was the best thing that happened today!!!!
Watched Lost last night....how good was it! I thought it was cool how they went back in time through the episode....just hope we get some answers in the third episode!
Leaving for Jacksonville tomorrow to see Michelle and family. Can't wait! I am so excited!!!!! It will be nice to have them so close. So if there is no posting over the weekend, I am sure that I will have stories and pics to post on Monday!
My personality...
This is really scary how close these things can be. Not 100% but pretty close!

At work, you are suited to almost any career - but you excel in leadership positions.

As far as looks go, you are traditionally attractive. You take good care of yourself.
On weekends, you tend to like to do organized activities. In fact, you often organize them! |
What a day!!!
Today was crazy!!! It was the roughest day I have had in quite a while. Everything we tried to do turned into a dilemma. While all of that was going on, I had an interview for the third management job I applied for. Didn't get the first two....but thought what the heck...maybe third time is the charm. Guess we'll see. The interview itself wasn't stressful (I am getting quite used to it by having at least one a week) but the fact that I was away from the other things I needed to be doing bothered me. I rushed from work to get my hair cut and during the process I almost fell asleep! On the way out of the mall I was reflecting about what a hard day it had been. As I was driving home though I suddenly started to feel better. I can't tell you how good driving the convertible on a crisp night (had the heater on) looking up at all the stars in the beautifully clear sky will make you feel. Talk about stress relief. I recommend it to everyone!!!!
U.S. Crime Rate Holds At 30-Year Low
I thought this was good to hear. In a world full of media, we hear about all of the bad things that happen and think that the world is so much worse than it was years ago. I think this story proves the world is not spinning rapidly downhill but that we are more connected and hear the bad things more now than in the past.

Desperate Housewives
I think Lost won this week...but it was good. I think the first scene was the best. Here is my question....is each season going to start with a funeral????

Exciting Post Alert!!!!
I have done absolutely nothing this weekend thus far. A young single guy should not have weekends like these! I guess my statement about doing nothing is not accurate...the accurate statement is that I have done absolutely nothing fun this weekend. I did go to the Y today and run....followed by washing clothes, washing sheets, cleaning the bathroom, washing dishes, folding clothes, etc. These are things I hate to do!!!! I can't wait until October....I won't have time for all of these menial tasks!!!
This is for Michelle....
I read this on MSNBC.com after we talked today....thought about you....

Late night
You might ask what I am doing up so late. Well, I took a nap after work today and don't have to be anywhere tomorrow so I thought I would take advantage of the opportunity and sleep in tomorrow. I have been watching the storm on tv extremely glad that it is not the category 5 it once was. Hopefully, my family and their property will be ok. Family is not replaceable and that is the most important thing but much of the family I have in that area are older and rebuilding would be more than tough for them...so I am praying their property makes it through the storm as well.
Hurricane Rita
Please pray for my family in Texas. My grandparents and other family members live in the Beaumont / Port Arthur Area....right where this storm is headed. My understanding is that they left but we haven't gotten any word from them lately. Please pray for their safety and the safety of their homes.
Google
Beware if you are a republican, you will not like this...but this is the funniest thing that I have seen in a long, long time!
Instructions:
- Go to Google.com
- Type in the word"failure"
- Click on "I'm Feeling Lucky"
- Laugh hysterically!!!!!
Someone at Google has a great sense of humor!!!!
Lost
Wow! It looks like the second season is going to be as good as the first...but what the heck!!!! I thought this was a deserted island. I think that Hurley's proclamation that he was in a mental facility is going to be an important link as the show progresses. I can't wait!
What does your birth date mean?
Your Birthdate: July 18 |
Your birthday on the 18th day of the month suggests than you are one who can work well with a group, but still remain someone who needs to maintain individual identity. There is a humanistic or philanthropic approach to business circumstances in which you find yourself. You may have good executive abilities, as you are very much the organizer and administrator.
You are broad-minded, tolerant and generous; a compassionate person that can inspire others with imaginative ideas. Some of your feelings may be expressed, but even more of them are apt to be repressed. There is a lot of drama in your personality and in the way you express yourself to others. Oddly enough, you don't expect as much in return as you give. |
Congrats to Maggie!
Gotta give props where they are due...Maggie is the winner of Big Brother 6! Good job! Can't wait until next year!!!!
Day 2
I have been back to the gym for the second day in a row! Phew - I wish exercising was fun!!! I read somewhere that it takes 2 weeks to start to develop a habit and 3 months for it to stick.
3 months - AGH!!!!!
Emmy Awards
Can you believe Everybody Loves Raymond beat Desperate Housewives for best comedy???? I like Raymond....but really????
At least Lost won best drama!
Big Brother Finale
Is it bad that I am enjoying the finale tonight not because I want to see who the winner is but because it is cool to see the evicted house guests????
I still say Rachel should have won!!!!
This weekend!
Had a good weekend this weekend! Helped Rachel move Saturday before heading to Roger and Michelle's for a game night Saturday. Shorty, Stacy, and family as well as Wanda and Kenny came. We had a good time!
Today, John, Melissa, and Rachel came over for lunch. We had steak fingers and they were awesome!!! Took a nap a watching the Emmy Awards tonight.
This week should be exciting. Starting to go running at the Y again tomorrow. I really would like to do it in the mornings...we'll see what happens at 8:00 am tomorrow.
Outstanding Reality Series
American Idol was robbed on the Emmy Awards tonight. The Amazing Race is the better show? Everybody knows who Bo and Carrie were....who knows who the finalists on the Amazing Race were this year???
Big Brother
What a disappointment this year! The Girl Scout Troop AKA The Nerd Herd has won. Ivette just blew her chance at winning. Janelle was right. She chose friendship over money. In that respect I hope I could do the same thing...but she gave up a lot of money!
It is my team's turn to win next year. American Idol starts in January!!
Quote for the day
"I don't think the President should have taken responsibility.... I don't blame the President. I blame the American people. Y'all knew the man was slow when you voted him in. You can't blame the blind man for wrecking your car when you're the one who gave him the keys."
-Wanda Sykes
So many things running through my mind!
Between the medicine I have been taking for these allergy problems and the many things going on in my life at this particular moment, it has been difficult to sleep here lately...and most of you know I love to sleep! I tossed and turned until after 2:00 am this morning before taking my blanket and pillow down to the couch. I finally fell asleep but had vivid dreams all night...the kind of sleep where you don't feel like you have rested at all. Look at the time...after midnight....and I am typing away.
I won't go into details tonight but some of the things I am thinking about:
- Projects I am working on for my current job
- The interview I had Monday for a management position
- The interview I have tomorrow for another management position
- Trying to decide if I should take either of the positions if offered
- I decided to move into an apartment on my own tonight - a great deal presented itself
From the outside looking in, I'm sure you are thinking all of this and the guy can't sleep? I didn't say that any of these things are bad things...in fact they are all awesome things that I have wanted for several years now. It is hard to be sure though what the best move for the long term will be. I think to be successful in life you should always have a five year plan. Instead of looking at what will benefit you today, do your best to look at what will benefit you today and in the future. Therein lies my dilemma.
Good night everyone! Sleep well!
The Flight That Fought Back
I just watched this documentary on Discovery about UAL Flight 93. Wow! It is both depressing and inspiring at the same time.
I can't imagine having to call my family and friends to say goodbye....and I really can't imagine being the receiving member of that phone call.
As bad as the day of September 11, 2001 was, I can only imagine if the terrorists had been able to hit the Capitol or the White House. God forbid I am ever put in a similar situation, but if so I hope I am able to act as unselfishly as the people on that plane!
Haven't done this in a while...

Hypothetical Conundrum
Thought this might be fun to revisit. Thanks again to Chelsea for providing this weeks question.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Second interview tomorrow!
My second interview for the management job is tomorrow at noon!
Please pray for me! I am not nervous about the interview. I am praying for discernment that I will know whether or not I should take the position if offered.
Many different factors will be involved in my decision. At the least, I would like to be offered the position. I guess we'll see how tomorrow goes!
Four years later

I remember watching this moment live on tv like it was yesterday. I remember my mouth hanging open and thinking that this cannot be happening!
On this fourth anniversary, I think that it is important that we take a moment and think about the people that perished on that tragic day. Also, please take a moment to pray for the survivors and everyone who lost friends and family members that day.
As a nation, we were not prepared for what happened on that tragic day four years ago. The important take away from the tragedy is that we learned from it and have taken steps to prevent this from happening again.
Four years later, we are suffering from a natural disaster that we were not prepared for. There are two differences in these disasters that I can see. The obvious is that we feel the man made disaster is worse because it is incomprehensible to most of us that another human would purposely bring that much pain and sorrow to others. The other difference I have seen is that after 9/11 our nation pulled together like never before. Politics, race, wealth, and all other differences were put to the side and we handled the situation as best we could. Our response to the natural disaster was completely opposite. The race card was played early on during the recovery and has not stopped since. Politicians immediately started attacking each other.
The lesson we should have learned from 9/11 should have been that if we pull together as a nation, we can handle anything no matter how difficult. We should stop placing blame on the hurricane recovery efforts and do everything we can to help the people of the Gulf Coast regain their lives. After that, we should learn from what happened so that next time we are better prepared and can show the rest of the world what a truly great country the United States of America really is!
Rest...
Today was nice. It is the first weekend that I have been home and had nothing to do in a long time! I spent the day resting! Didn't even get out of bed to take a shower until about 4:00pm. I didn't sleep all that time just watched a little tv, worked on the blog, etc. Rachel made dinner tonight...tacos....yum!
I embarrassed her tonight! We went to the grocery store tonight and I was having a few problems walking. She mentioned it and I responded (rather loudly I guess) that it was the drugs affecting me (meaning the drugs my doctor gave me earlier in the week). Apparently a lady in the store heard me and kept giving us awful looks like I came to the grocery store stoned and bragging about it! I just laughed but Rachel was mortified...too funny!
Special shout out (oh, how I hate that phrase...but gotta keep myself young) to my niece Michelle! She is blogging too - see the link on my main page! Her family just moved to Jacksonville, FL and they are only four hours away! Between that and blogging we are going to try to keep in touch more....because as most of you know...that can be hard for me to do sometimes!
What is Ophelia going to do??

It looks like it is going to north of us...but this storm can't decide what it is going to do! Need to keep a close watch!
Fun in Franklin, TN!

Labor Day Memories - 2005!

Family Fun in Tennessee!
For those of you who don't know: Aunt Robin (pictured separately), Grandma, Mom, and Dad.
My artistic side...

Some nature shots from Tennessee!
TiVo Problems
My TiVo is broken! Life is coming to an end!!!!! I came home from my trip last weekend and it won't do anything except say "Welcome....powering up." I called Toshiba and the parts are still under warranty. I have to ship it out to have it repaired. I am so used to being able to have something to watch at the drop of the hat....and I have gotten used to not watching commercials and being able to watch a show whenever I want to.What do you mean you can't pause live TV???????Agh!!! I feel like I am back in the stone age! Please help!!!!!
Ophelia

This is the latest forecast for Ophelia. If it follows this path, it will come right over us on Monday morning. Thank goodness it is a small hurricane!
A great weekend....pics to come later!
Why does the time go by so fast when you are on vacation? This weekend went by so quickly....sitting in the airport waiting to go back home.
I had a great time with my family! My Grandma looks awesome!!! We had a great time. Aunt Robin kept the great food coming! I probably gained five pounds...but it was worth it...although my diet and exercise must commence again tomorrow!
My parents, Robin, and I spent a lot of time going to antique shops....kind of cool....we found some dishes that my Grandma had been given by her mother and we are going to try to get the whole set.
Also, got a great trading spaces type idea for Shannon's kitchen....more to come on that later. Well, gotta catch a plane....more to come!
Happy Labor Day!
What did we do...
when we had layovers before wireless internet???
A great start to the holiday!
My boss told me to go home about noon today! Woohoo! I didn't have to be at the airport until 5:30 so I decided to catch a movie...by myself...can you believe it??? I saw Red Eye....highly reccomended! Very suspenseful! Be sure to catch it!!! After the movie, I drove to Columbia and had lunch at Olive Garden...again by myself. Can you believe it? I guess Daniel is now all grown up and can do things by himself. I'm now in the airport waiting to catch a flight! I love airports that offer free wireless internet....although this is the most expensive parking I have ever seen....$8 a day!Have a great holiday!!!
Comment Spam
You never think it will happen to you! Lol! I started getting comment Spam today so I had to add the word verification feature to the comment section. Hopefully it won't be too much trouble!
Hurricane Aftermath
I can't watch it anymore. It is just too sad. It is so strange to see this happening in the United States. For some reason when you watch the news and see it going on in other countries it is easier to take. I guess maybe it hits closer to home and you realize that it could happen to you.
Tomorrow...

I will be on my way to Tennessee to visit my Grandma!! I can't wait. I am flying out this time....I drive most of the time but the 9 hour drive is beginning to wear on me! My parents are driving in from Oklahoma and staying for the weekend. A special thank you to my Aunt Robin and Uncle Dave for allowing us all to stay in their home!
Happy Birthday!!!
Happy Birthday Shannon!! Hope this is your best year yet!!!! Everyone, please help me wish Shan a great birthday! The candles on the cake are not representative of her real age!
Where have they gone????

Where have the people who commented on my blog gone??? Am I boring you? If so, let me know any topics you would like to see discussed on I'm Not Opinionated!
Can't wait to hear from you!!!
