Beautfully stated was the title of this e-mail

I hate the chain e-mails but I did like the thought expressed in this one....

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

Car problems....

So either the battery or my alternator in my car is dead...the perfect ending to the perfect week, right? I'm sure that leaving the lights on earlier and draining the battery killed it! At least I got off of work early today and got a nap in.

Have a great weekend!!!!

Last Weekend

Sorry for the lack of posting this week! I got sick - and because I don't get sick a lot - I tend not to want to do anything when I am sick!!!

I went to Jax last weekend to spend Easter with Matt and Michelle and their family. I have some pics that I will try to get up before the weekend is over. We went to the beach on Saturday - no pics were taken - so I will spare you that misery! On Sunday we had an Easter egg hunt for the kids, made cookies with the kids (I think Michelle and I enjoyed eating the dough more than the cookies themselves), and had Easter dinner.

On Sunday night Michelle, Austin, and Breanna were sick all night. I thought I was in the clear. I worked in the Jacksonville office on Monday and had a great day. Monday night was a different story as I joined the crowd. I was sick and called in on Tuesday. That was the first time I called in since I took this job in January 2005. I drove home on Tuesday night but was pretty miserable...in fact very miserable. I finally started feeling better last night. Woo hoo!

I have the new car bug...I am looking. I had been looking at the BMW Z3 convertible but I think it is time to upgrade to a larger convertible. I am looking at both the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder and the Chrysler Seabring. The Spyder is definitely the more sporty car and what I am leaning toward. Hopefully I will have a new car sometime next month unless I talk myself out of it!

Miata

I know my car is small....apparently so small that the older generation cannot see it!! Either that or it is national please cut Daniel off on his way to work day! Twice this morning. I could live with one. I had time to react and could move into the other lane. I could have moved into the other lane for the other one...had he not pulled out in front of me at the very last minute when I was going 70 mph. I blared on the horn for several minutes and when I passed him threw my hands up in the air which was a very effective gesture with the top down!! But I didn't curse or give any other gestures so I thought I handled it maturely. Look at me...I'm growing up...no comments from the peanut gallery!

The Reason We Celebrate!

Holiday Traffic and Gas Prices

I kept hearing that gas prices might slow down the holiday traffic. I found out on my way to Jax this weekend that this was wrong!!!! Ugh! I took me six hours to get here. Normally it takes me four and a half. We were moving so slowly on the interstate that people would stop and talk to me as I had the top down. The top down also led to the sunburn on the top of my head...but of course it is worth it. I always forget that on the first long trip of the season sunscreen should be involved!

Having a great time at Matt and Michelle's! Went to the beach yesterday. Easter egg hunting today. Working tomorrow at the Jacksonville office with my counterpart.

More to come...

Happy Easter!!!!

A letter to Jaymeson

Jaymeson,

It is time for you to stop growing! I enjoyed having lunch with you and your mom while in Oklahoma even though it was too brief. I am sad that I only got to spend a couple of hours with you. At least we got to have a good lunch and get a prize. What could be better than that. I can't believe that you are old enough to answer every question I ask with "Duh...yeah Uncle Daniel" or the reverse, "Duh....no Uncle Daniel!" I can't wait to see you this summer. Like I promised, I am going to do my best to get you out here to see the beach...and me of course!

Love,

Uncle Daniel

A Great Tribute

I hope that Jenny doesn't mind but I thought that this was a great tribute to my Grandma. If you get a chance take a minute to read it. I am still woking on the words to comment on the post. Of course, browse her site while you are there. She has an awesome blog!

Gotta take a break...

more to come!

I learned something last week

On the way to the cemetery after the funeral last week, I was surprised to find out that it almost angered me when people on the other side of the road would not stop for the funeral procession. Admittedly, I have been in that situation and been in a hurry and did not want to take the time to stop. That will never happen again. While life does have to go on, we should honor the departed and their family with a few moments of respect. On the flip side, it really touched my heart to see a man that was doing yard work on the side of the road stop and take his hat off until the procession had passed. It is amazing what small gestures will do.

I know I am supposed to be mature...

but the title of this article still makes me chuckle....

I know...time to grow up already!

Cingular - #1 in my book!

I have to give props where they are due!

My cell phone is falling apart literally! The charger will no longer connect to the phone. I had a back up phone...but guess what...it is falling apart too!

I went to the Cingular store today and they told me they couldn't help me because I wasn't eligible for an upgrade until the end of May. They told me to call customer service to see if they could help me. I was expecting that response so I asked how much it would be to cancel my contract and left to call customer service. I have been with Cingular many years now and would hate to leave them but I was not above doing it.

I called customer service expecting to have to put up a fight...but I didn't have to. I told the sales rep my problem and long story short...my new phone will arrive in a few days....didn't even have to threaten to leave.

Thanks Cingular....you have proven to me how awesome you are once again!

Update coming soon!

I promise - hopefully today - for sure before the weekend is up!!!!

No posting as of late...

I started this post on April 4th....

Sorry for the lack of posting lately. As you can probably ascertain from the last post, I spent last week in Oklahoma for my Grandma's funeral. I am in Detroit on my way home this evening. I stayed with my parents for much of my stay and they only have dial up...I would rather study than use dial up...so you know how bad it was! I traveled to Tennessee on March 25th and was with my Grandma when she passed away. I left for Oklahoma on the following Tuesday and the funeral was on Friday. It was a beautiful service. The whole ordeal tore me up but as bad as it sounds I am so glad it is over. I am so tired. I can't wait for the weekend so that I can rest.

And now the weekend has arrived...

I had to abruptly stop that post before finishing it because I had to board the airplane. I have not done much but go to work and sleep since I returned so I am going to try to catch up on some posting this weekend. As well as some cleaning....which I am sure my roommate would appreciate. It took me several days to get caught up at work from being out but things are slowly returning to normal. While I was away I had several posting ideas but my parents only had dial up (aghh!!!!) so I didn't even try to get online. I will post them as I have time or as the ideas come back to me. Remember, I am getting old!

Thanks to everyone who called, sent cards, or came to support me during the loss of my Grandma. It really meant a lot and is appreciated more than you know!
