Formatting

I am hoping other blogger users can help me. I am having trouble with the formatting blogger is using. See the previous posts. It is not spacing correctly. In the compose window, I am spacing between the paragraphs but blogger clumps everything together. Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

For Good

This is last post about Wicked for a while....I promise! I actually typed this post last night...but made a mistake and lost it. I wanted to post some of the lyrics from the song For Good (written by Stephen Schwartz) from Wicked. The more I have listened to the soundtrack, the more I have found that like the book, the lyrics, while on the surface appearing to be specific to the characters, have a deeper meaning that can be applied to life in general.

For Good
I've Heard It Said
That People Come Into Our Lives For A Reason
Bringing Something We Must Learn
And We Are Led
To Those Who Help Us Most To Grow
If We Let Them
And We Help Them In Return
Well, I Don't Know If I Believe That's True
But I Know Who I Am Today
Because I Knew You...
It May Well Be
That We Will Never Meet Again
In This Lifetime
So Let Me Say Before We Part
So Much Of Me
Is Made Of What I Learned From You
You'll Be With Me
Like A Handprint On My Heart
And Now Whatever Way Our Stories End
I Know You Have Re-Written Mine
By Being My Friend...
Looking back there are so many people who have had an impact on my life and helped me to become who I am today. I think of many people and the profound impact they have had on my life and wish that I was able to keep in better contact with them. It is amazing how quickly time seems to pass....before you know it...five years have passed.
I also think back at all the people that have left this earth to go to a better place...and how we can lose loved ones in a second. No one knows when they leave their homes in the morning that they will make it back at the end of the day. Most likely if you are reading this blog...you are someone I know and love...and I thank you for the impact you have made on my life!
I saw the movie Pay It Forward on tv last night. Maybe this will spark something similar. Go out and tell the people that are important to you how special they are and what they mean to you!

My friend Lora called today...

To brag that gas is $1.97 in Oklahoma.

Must be nice. At least it is down to $2.45 here.

Thanks for bragging!

Wow...the weekend again....already????

Wow....this week flew by! I can't believe that it is Friday...not that I am complaining!!! The week started slow...but I was glad because I rested a lot...I was soooo tired from all my travels this month. Wednesday and Thursday were very busy at work.

Last night, I went to one of my friend's plays at FMU here in Florence. Melissa - you were great. It was a cool play. Romeo and Juliet set in an post apocalyptic setting. I wish I had a picture to post of Melissa in costume!

Tonight, Wanda and Kenny, Stacy and Shorty with the kids, and I went to the inaugural game of our our new hockey team in Florence. We won in overtime....very cool! Ate to much junk...going to gain all this weight back if i'm not careful...lol. We had a GREAT time!

Hope everyone has a great weekend....we get an extra hour of sleep this weekend....how could it be bad???

Jaymeson

Shan called Jaymeson Friday night to talk with him. While she was on the phone, I told her to ask him what kind of prize he wanted. When she finished the question, Jaymeson said "may I please speak to my Uncle Daniel?" We talked and he told me he wanted the "swamp car thingy." Shannon and I had no clue. I told him that we would look for it and if we couldn't find it, I would get him something else. He said "Uncle Daniel, you can find it at Wal-Mart!"

We went to a toy store and Target and found it both places...It was a Hot Wheels Swamp Beast race car track. Lots of pieces. Shan did not want it. I told her that it is what he had asked me for and I found it so I have to get it for him. I called tonight when I got in at Charlotte. Jaymeson got on the phone and said "Uncle Daniel....you found it!!! It is just what I wanted! You found it! I told you it was at Wal-Mart!!!" He was so excited!!!! That kind of reaction would make even the worst day seem bright!

We talked for a long time.....five minutes or so....which for Jaymeson is a long time to talk on the phone!! He was excited about the carnival they are having after school tomorrow. I asked him what he was being for Halloween (we talked about this about a week ago) and he said "Uncle Daniel....I already told you!!" I had to admit to him that I was old and forgetful to get myself out of trouble. Gone are the days when I could have a few standard questions to ask him....have to find new questions every time now...can't believe how much he is growing up!!!

Suspense

I know that all of you are in suspense to find out if I made it on that airplane! So in order to alleviate that stress...I guess I will tell you. Yes, I made it on the standby flight! I got to sit on the aisle seat on the very last row....32. I hate sitting in the back of the plane...but at least I wasn't in the middle...and getting on the earlier flight allowed me to get back in to Hartsville about the time my original flight was scheduled to land in Charlotte! And the icing on the cake...my luggage made it with me....woohoo!!!

Airport

Sitting in DFW....on standby...trying to catch the earlier flight back to Charlotte. Shan had homework and Stacy had a work event tonight so I thought I would try to get home at a decent hour tonight....there is a foreign concept for me! So....here I am....waiting...we'll see what happens!

I blogged a lot this weekend. We had some fun times!! We finished the weekend by dining at Chili's for lunch today! Back to the grind tomorrow! Ugh! I'll keep you posted as to if I make the flight...I know you are dying to know!!

Kind of incriminating I know...but fun! Check out the link for all of the pics! Posted by Picasa

Had lunch at Pei Wei had Thai noodles....yum!!!! We then went to the State Fair of Texas! Obligatory corn dog picture attached. We are napping before a night on the town...I hear that Karaoke might be involved....so more stories to come later I am sure!

Urinal

Strange title for a post I know...bu tI found this while showing some pics to Shan this weekend. I saw this on another blog....I'm sorry it has been to long to recall which one exactly...but I have to say....someone had quite a sense of humor!

The Diet Game

This is taken from my post on August 10th....

"My goal is to lose about 20 lbs before October 20th. Why October 20th...I am meeting Shan in Dallas for her birthday present...we are going to watch Wicked! I can't wait. We are also staying with Stacy....we always have a great time together. I really want to be able to wear the pants I bought early this year....so that is my goal....the goal that follows that is to keep exercising and keep the weight off....because diets suck!!
I tell you this not because you care...but because if I make it public knowledge...then maybe that will give me the motivation I need to follow through."

Ok...so now it is October 21st. I have good news and I have bad news. The bad news is that I did not reach my goal. I have only lost about 12 pounds. The good news is that I wore the pants I spoke of in the previous post down here on Thursday. I can't tell you how good that made me feel. It is great incentive to keep working! An additional incentive is that I have purchased four new pairs of pants in the last couple of weeks in the smaller size and I plan to be able to wear them for many days to come. I am pushing my goal out to have the remainder of the pounds off by Christmas....and I am uping the goal by eight pounds...28 lbs by Christmas...only 16 more to go!!!!

Wicked

Wicked was awesome!!! It was such a good show...very impressive. The music was wonderful and the actresses who played Glenda and Elphiba (The Wicked Witch of the West) were both very good. I bought the cast recording!

They did a good job with Gregory Maguire's story. It is very difficult to fit an entire novel into a two and a half hour show ... so some things were left out... which is to be expected. The ending was a bit different. I don't want to reveal too much because if you get the chance you should see the show and read the book...as both are excellent...but one ends on a much happier note than the other.

After the show...we went shopping at Grapevine Mills....fun as always!!

We had two mexican meals today....On the Border for lunch and Taco Bueno for dinner...my favorites! Thank you Shan....because she really doesn't like On the Border. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!!!

The Big "D"

I'm here!!! I got here last night. Shan picked me up at the airport...of course the plane was about 15 minutes late...and the bags took forever...so all of the restaurants were closed by the time we were out of there. This totally sucked because I hadn't eaten much all day because we had planned to eat. McDonalds was the highly anticipated dinner....ugh!

We are going to see Wicked today at 2:00. We can't wait!!!! The rest of the visit is unplanned...nothing like being spontaneous! Today we have thought of several options. We may visit the fair. Everyone tells me the Texas state fair is awesome! I must admit I am hoping for an opportunity to bungee jump!! We also have talked about Medieval Times...maybe tonight.

More to come....

Where did the weekend go???

Monday is almost over. What happened to the weekend?? Let me recap!

Friday: Went to dinner with Rachel and her niece. We went to IHOP. It was great! I ate like a pig....but a guy can have one day to cheat a week, right?? On the other hand, we went to Target and I dropped a size in my jeans...so I bought three new pair! They were on sale...alright? My motto in life has been if it is on sale....you have to buy it!

Saturday: I rode to Columbia with Debbie. We took Chloe to meet Tim and Tracey in Columbia. We had a great dinner at Chili's! Very fun...haven't seen them in a while!! Tracey is looking very cute...hard to believe it is almost time for a new baby!!!

Sunday: I worked my behind off. Laundry. Cleaned my Car. Went to the Y and ran. A weekend at home sure can be a lot of work.

Today I am counting down the days until I leave for Dallas....just a couple more...leave Thursday evening! I can't wait!!!!

One Word

So...I get the following e-mail today.

Describe me in one word - just one.
Send it to me (only me), then forward this email to your friends and
see how many strange things people think about you.
I hate most foward e-mails like this...but I thought it might be interesting so I sent it to a few people.
This is the first response I received....

A Tasteless Albeit Funny Joke!

I got this from Shannon's mom...

I thought it was funny. Everyone says it is not but then they immediately run to tell someone else!

If women with large breasts work at Hooters....
Where do women with one leg work???

I'll post the answer in the comments section.

My favorite pic of Jaymeson

I got a scanner today!!! This seems like just yesterday! How did he get so big?

Pictures!!!

I have finally figured out how to make a picture section for my blog!!!! It hit me on the way home last night!! If you will notice, I added a section on the right hand side under links called strangely enough....Pictures!

These are links to the Kodak gallery. The links should not make you log in to the Kodak gallery...though if you want to save the pics you can! To view without signing in, click on the link that says View Photos Without Signing In.

I am very excited about this addition to my blog!! It is one of several improvements I have in store. Tell me what you think!!!!

Luck and Power

Pretty good. Some would agree with the last part about people better care about what I think. I think that stretched the line a bit.

Interesting!

You Are Internal - Skeptic - Powerful

You feel your life is controlled internally.
If you want something, you make it happen.
You don't wait around for things to go your way.
You value your independence and don't like others to have control.

You are a total skeptic when it comes to luck.
You believe that people use luck as a crutch to avoid responsibility.
You control your own destiny. The universe has nothing to do with it.
You believe everything can be explained - and you tend to over analyze situations.

When it comes to who's in charge, it's you.
Life is a kingdom, and you're the grand ruler.
You don't care much about what others think.
But they better care what you think!
The Three Dimension Luck and Power Test

It's a holiday weekend!!!!

Oh, it's not for you?? So sorry!!!

Gotta love working for a bank!!!!!

Have a great weekend!!!

Lost

One word - awesome!

Ok. I am trying to figure out the significance of the pattern...

4,8,15,16,23,42

These numbers total 108...the number on the timer....but there has to be something more significant!

Commander In Chief

I watched the pilot of this show and I think that I am hooked. Here is a quote from Geena Davis, the star of the show -

"We still live at a time when a female president is controversial -- even though it seems so bizarre that we've made it to the 21st century excluding half of the potential talent pool."

Ok...and now a rant!

I agree completely!!! What would society do if we let go of all of our prejudices? Just think of how much more productive we could be. It is unfathomable to me that we still live in a country with so much prejudice. Racism, Sexism, and a multitude of other Isms are alive and well in our country. Like Ferris Bueler said, Isms in my opinion are not good.

I think that it is about time that everyone in this country started to actively follow the anti-discrimination policies that we require every company in this country to have. Actions speak louder than words. It is time to practice what we preach!

Thought I better post...

so Michelle wouldn't worry. I left late last night and she didn't want a phone call at 3:00 in the morning to tell her I got home alright. I can't imagine why. She told me she would know that I made it home if I posted on my blog. I thought about leaving her hanging for a while...but I guess that would be mean. I'll post some pics when I get home!

Jax

Well I made it to Jax on Friday night. Got down here about 11pm. After getting my decal so that I could get on the base, Michelle and I stayed on the computer until about 3:30am. I just have one thing to say....Google Earth is too cool!!!

This morning we got moving and our first stop was Home Depot. They have a great program for kids the first of every month. This month's project was making a wooden fire truck. I got to help!! I will have to take pics of the fire truck I helped build. Matt and Michelle can verify that I am a great carpenter! If you believe that, I have some ocean front property in Nebraska I want to sell you. You thought I was going to say Arizona...didn't you....admit it!!!

From there we spent the day in St. Augustine. Very cool town! We started the day at the Alligator Farm, toured a fort, and went to Ripley's Believe It or Not! We ended the day with dinner at Sticky Fingers.

We have some good pictures. I promise to post some soon!!!!

Beach tomorrow!!!! It will be good to relax before my trip home tomorrow!!! Have a great Sunday!!!!
